Gas - 2009 - Compressed Gas

Comprised of various members from Christchurch's obscure fringe (MCGOOHANS, SHALLOWS and SCORCHED EARTH POLICY), GAS harkens forth with an effusive hybrid of Nuggets-styled garage psych fused into the miasmic, post industrial rust clamor of Hearthan-era Pere Ubu.

Gas - 2009 - Compressed Gas

Recorded between 1996 and 1998, these ultra lo-fi garage rock fragments come from various members of Christchurch's underground music scene, and they represent a fairly extreme example of homespun, DIY noise-mongering: 'League Of Golden Maidens' opens up with a vintage proto-punk swagger, but the whole thing sounds like its been recorded down a phone line, with drums replaced by Casio keyboard percussion. As the EP unfolds (over six tracks and fourteen minutes) you start to wonder precisely what prompted the issuing of this peculiar, fragmentary body of work after all these years, but whatever the reasoning you'll be glad it's out there.
