T.I.T.S are four ladies from San Francisco known singularly as Kim West, Abbey Kerins, Mary Elizabeth Yarbrough and Wendy Farina. Their name is a "revolving" acronym, with one of the finer ones being Technicolor Inner Troll Syndrome. The quartet ply their trade in a kind of witchy, experimental doom-laden pop, which could easily evoke reminiscences as diverse as Sabbath, The Shop Assistants, Boris, or Christian Death with some Terry Riley/Eno repetition added for good measure. The T.I.T.S sound is underpinned by Mary Elizabeth's tumbling darkened bass lines and Wendy's totally animal drum pound. Abbey's guitar lays down the acerbic riff, while Kim's emits a subtly oscillating sheet of feedback. Over the top, all four harmonise with a kind of semi-operatic, fantasy whisper. The effect is this inexplicable feel of time-travelling castle metal - of four ladies of the lake casting forth a single Excalibur, sinking it into stone so deep, no Arthur shall ever wield it.

A Good Year for Hardness doesn't sound like what you'd expect from Six Finger Satellite, but during the first 10 years of their career before their hiatus in 2001, they never really played to expectations anyway. From gnashing noise-rock to synth-heavy freakouts to Krautrock rhythms and electronic textures, the band never lingered on any particular style or sound for very long. Listeners and critics alike have compared them to Shellac, Devo, Braniac, even Kraftwerk-- a pretty disparate group of pretty innovative bands.

Kid Commando was a band from Sweden founded in 1998. They were influenced by Arab on Radar and various noise rock bands. Two guitarists and one drummer making music where every note sounds like a painful struggle. Every drum fill, next to impossible. It almost seems like the members of Kid Commando are in constant battle with the instruments they play. Their art damaged sandpaper rhythms cut jagged grooves into normalcy. They call it "new funk." We call it "excellent."

The Skull Defekts is a two-headed beast from Sweden. One for hypnotic rock and one for experimental electronics. The band has been compared to Can, Wolf Eyes, Wire, Shellac and beyond. Formed by Henrik Rylander and Joachim Nordwall in early 2005 when Nordwall’s band Kid Commando decided to end their eight-year career as knights of the sweatiest avant rock existing.
